Mitral Valve Prosthesis
Signs of Mitral Valve Prosthesis obstruction: (1) Mean diastolic gradient
> 6-8 mmHg at rest. (Note: Resting gradient will also be increased by significant MR or increased cardiac output (e.g., fever, anemia).) (2) Diastolic pressure half-time > 150 ms. (Note: PHT can also be affected by other factors, e.g. left ventricular relaxation/compliance or severe aortic regurgitation.) (3) Effective MVA <1.0 cm2 by continuity equation. (4) Mitral inflow CFI jet in tissue prostheses <0.8 cm wide. J.S. Child, 2004
